As part of the stimulus package money one of the most dangerous intersections in Boulder for cyclists will now be addressed. A stoplight will be installed at the intersections of North Broadway and Highway 36.
This is the sight of the tragic death of cyclist Michael McCutcheon last year when he was run over by a dump truck as he attempted to cross the intersection. The Boulder Cycling Club applauds this move to create a safer cycling environment for the whole cycling community. I personally witnessed the aftermath of that accident last year as I passed the spot shortly after the accident had occurred. It’s one of those moments you never forget and it’s great news that that intersection, which is one of the major jumping off points for cyclists heading north, will now be a safer situation for everyone. The Boulder Cycling Club stresses Safety First and this gets us one step closer to a safer cycling environment in Boulder.
